In this London home in Peckham Rye, we created a brand-new basement bathroom, transforming an unused space into a calm and functional retreat. The project highlights our complete design and build services, from structural work and waterproofing to bespoke finishes and integrated lighting, delivering a space that is both practical and elegant.

Starting with a blank basement, we carefully designed the layout to maximise space and flow. The bathroom features a gently curved shower with a built-in seat, a freestanding bath, dual sinks on a marble countertop, and a thoughtfully positioned toilet, combining balance, comfort, and functionality.

Material choices were key to creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. Natural flooring with wooden insets adds tactile warmth, while lime-wash resin on walls and surfaces provides durability and a soft, velvety finish. A courtyard-facing window allows natural light to highlight textures and enhance the overall sense of calm.

Every detail was carefully considered — from the ceiling-mounted shower and recessed lighting to the placement of the freestanding bath and dual sinks — ensuring the bathroom is both relaxing and functional. The layout accommodates two users comfortably while maintaining an airy, uncluttered feel.

The result is a refined basement bathroom, showcasing the potential of creating a completely new space in a London home.
