We were tasked with refurbishing a home and creating a double-story extension on Grafton Road in London. Our design brief had to capture the essence of this charming area while adhering to the stringent requirements of the Conservation Area. The goal was to maximize natural light in the expanded rear space, providing a delightful mix of heritage and modernity.
The main requirement for the brief was to create a contemporary design with an emphasis on natural light.
How We Approached the Design
Our plans began with developing a mood board focused on seamlessly merging the old and new parts of the home. We opted for color palettes incorporating comforting textures and curated accents to introduce points of contrast.
In the living area, we achieved the sense of tranquility we aimed for and extended this into the garden space, creating a harmonious transition between the indoors and outdoors. Our design choices reflected the character of Grafton Road, particularly in our selection of materials for the rear extension and exterior walls.
We utilized our project management expertise to integrate every phase of this refurbishment and extension, coordinating with our interior design partner and managing our efforts throughout the process.
