The project brief

We were appointed by a client in London who was looking for the right team to bring their property up to date – in terms of functionality and aesthetics. During the initial consultation, the client told us that they felt the decor was outdated throughout the home, and that it no longer reflected their style preferences. Beyond this, they also told us about how some of the properties’ original features were looking worse for wear. They also knew that it was time to update some of the essential systems, and this included both the electrics and plumbing

“We are so happy with the final result – our extension gives us the extra space we wanted, without creating too much of a contrast between our existing home.”

What we did

This project was a full home renovation, and we were tasked with refreshing the lounge, kitchen, three bedrooms, and the bathroom. Once we had reviewed our plans for the renovation with our in-house architects and interior designers, our project manager presented our proposed ideas to the client for final sign off. From this point and with client approval, we started working on-site.

Our team of plasterers had the first job on-site, carefully restoring the ceilings in each room. Some of these were original, high ceilings, and they had been neglected over the years; updating them made each room feel more open and airy, encouraging more natural light to enter. In some rooms, there were ornate ceiling moldings which were also in need of a refresh, and some electrical wiring updates were made to suit our suggestions for lighting. The final period feature that we spent time updating was a stunning original ornate fireplace.

Next, electricians and plumbers came on-site to upgrade systems in the bathroom, kitchen, and lounge. Once this work was completed, we began installing new walls and flooring across the home.

Once these significant changes had been made, our interior designers started introducing new aesthetic palettes into each room. We decorated the kitchen, lounge, bedrooms and bathroom, focusing on deep jewel tones and sleek, metallic fixtures.

The outcome

Once completed, and after an in-depth snag review, we handed the property back over to our client. They were extremely happy with the way we had brought a new lease of life into the original features of their home; balancing this with more contemporary decor choices. Our subtle tweaks to the floor plan of the home meant that overall, it felt more spacious and open.
